Key Question: How can I know that God loves me?
Biblical Truth: God’s eternal love is visible in His actions throughout history.
Biblical Context: Last week was the first in a series on God’s covenant love. Lesson 25 focused on God’s motivation for making a covenant with the Israelites: love. Today’s lesson will focus on some of the ways God showed His love for the Israelites. From God’s actions, we as His people know His love is eternal. This assurance bolsters our faith in His covenant love.
God’s people have always experienced awe and wonder in singing together God’s praise. While we aren’t given the melodies, the texts of ancient songs of praise are scattered through the Bible. The major collection of those song lyrics is the Book of Psalms. Each Psalm is unique and expresses a particular theme or emotion. Psalm 136 is a song praising God for His enduring love.
Learning Goals:
- Students will understand that God demonstrates His eternal love through His actions.
- Students will begin to value the eternal nature of God’s love.
