Key Question: What does it mean for God to love me?
Biblical Truth: God established a covenant with His people because of His love.
Biblical Context: This marks the beginning of a new series of lessons that will look at the motivation of God’s covenant with His children: His undying love. God created humankind because of His love. And because of this great love, He set in place a plan for humanity’s redemption from sin. An essential part of that plan is His covenant relationship with us. Over the next eight weeks, you will study what God’s love looks like, how we should love God, and some poignant biblical examples of this love being carried out. You will also see how our love of God binds us together with fellow believers. It is a rich look into the foundation of our covenant relationship with God. This lesson looks back at a wonderful expression of God’s love given to the Israelites by Moses. This encounter is used to set the stage for an in-depth look at God’s love.
Learning Goals:
- Students will understand the vast love God has expressed in establishing a covenant relationship with people.
- Students will apply their understanding of God’s great love by acknowledging how He has demonstrated this love in their lives.
